All-On-Four dental implants, also called implant dentures, are designed for patients that are missing a full arch of teeth. It helps to provide the stability and benefits of dental implants but at a lesser price. Dr. Cappy Sinclair offers All-On-Four dental implants in the Norfolk, VA area.
What are All-On-Four Dental Implants?
This is a unique procedure that can replace a full arch of teeth with as few as four dental implants. They’re precisely planned and strategically placed to support a full denture of teeth. Fewer implant posts mean that this form of tooth replacement is less expensive than full dental implants, but you still get the stability implants provide.
All-On-Four Vs. Traditional Dentures
All-On-Four provides many benefits over traditional dentures. To start, these are secured with dental implants. You don’t have to worry about finding a dental adhesive that works. You’re able to keep a full diet with these as well. They won’t slip or fall out when you’re trying to bite into something or speak.
Having even a few dental implants in your jawbone means many perks for your oral health. Implants help to stop jawbone deterioration that occurs with tooth loss and can spur jawbone regeneration. They have longevity and are designed to last a long time. Traditional dentures need to be replaced over time as your jawbone deteriorates and changes more.
All-On-Four is ideal for patients that may not be eligible for full dental implants. Implants are a pricier restoration, and only having four implants lowers the cost. Full implants also require a certain amount of healthy bone structure. It’s crucial that it’s there to anchor the implants. Having fewer implants means more patients may have enough bone structure to support them.
The All-On-Four Process
As with all of our treatments, a personalized plan for each patient is essential. You’ll meet with the dentist to discuss your budget, goals, and an oral exam will be performed. We want to make sure that the All-On-Four process is the best option for your unique case. Depending on your needs, we’ll plan to implant as few as four posts to support the denture.
In some cases, five or six implants may be used in order to provide a better result. Planning is used to identify the best angles and placement for the implant posts. If you have damaged or decayed teeth, these will be removed before the implant process is started. We provide the entire implant process under one roof!
Once the posts are implanted, a temporary dental restoration will be placed while the area heals. The posts will need 3-6 months to fuse with your jawbone before the process can be completed. The temporary restoration is removed, and a custom denture will be attached to the implants. It’s tailored to fit the color, size, and shape of teeth you want.
