Here you can read answers to commonly asked questions about cosmetic dental treatments.
How can I whiten my teeth if I have deep tooth stains?
Sometimes patients have intrinsic tooth stains that come from within the tooth. A dental injury, tooth erosion, and even genetics can discolor teeth. Intrinsic tooth stains are difficult to remove with teeth whitening treatment. We recommend dental veneers or even crowns if patients have large areas of tooth damage and discoloration. Covering these stains can create a more uniform smile.
Are resin or porcelain veneers better?
Every patient has different needs. The type of veneer you need depends on what you want to change. Patients with large cosmetic stains, gaps between teeth, or damage benefit from porcelain veneers because they are thicker. Resin veneers are typically thinner and work for minor tooth misalignment, chips, and discoloration.
Am I a candidate for Invisalign treatment?
We recommend Invisalign for adults with mild to moderate orthodontic concerns. If patients have an underbite, overbite, or large gaps between teeth, we may recommend braces. Traditional metal braces are also best for moderate to severe bite problems. Additionally, Invisalign patients must be in good oral health. We can provide general and restorative treatment before Invisalign to ensure patients are properly prepared for treatment.
When will I see results from teeth whitening treatment?
Patients who choose our in-office whitening treatment can see results within an hour. If patients want to whiten their teeth in the comfort of their own homes, we recommend take-home whitening treatment. Although it can take several weeks for patients to see results, this option is great for patients with sensitive teeth.
Do veneers look like natural teeth?
Custom, professionally-crafted dental veneers should easily blend in with the appearance of natural teeth. We offer resin and porcelain veneers that we color-match to natural teeth. We can brighten single discolored teeth or address all of the teeth in the smile line with veneers.
