What is Virtual Dentistry?

Due to COVID-19, as well as just for convenience, Coastal Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry is proud to offer virtual dentistry. This allows you to have a full dental consultation with Dr. Cappy Sinclair, a dentist in Virginia Beach, VA, from the comfort of your own home. What can you do over teledentistry and how does it benefit you.

What is Virtual Dentistry?

Virtual dentistry, also known as teledentistry, uses a secure, HIPAA compliant software that allows you to talk to your dentist over video. You can use your smartphone, desktop computer, laptop, or tablet to discuss issues with your dentist. You’ll pick a scheduled time, just like a regular appointment.

Dr. Sinclair uses the software Doxy.me to conduct their virtual dentistry consultations. You can have a confidential conversation about whatever issues you’re having. No data is stored so that you’re able to speak freely about medical issues.

How Does the doxy.me Software Work?

You don’t have to create a login or anything to participate in your appointment. You’ll simply get a link in an invite sent to you by your Virginia Beach, VA dentist. This will lead you to a virtual waiting room until your dentist connects and starts your appointment.

This software is also free for you to use. However, as with all appointments, a consultation fee will be discussed between you and your dentist. It can be submitted to insurance to see if it’s covered by your benefits program.

The Process of Your Appointment

You can schedule your appointment like you would any other appointment. Call us or use the online scheduling tool. There’s a dropdown option to choose virtual dentistry within the online tool. You’ll then be contacted and you’ll be able to discuss a time that’s convenient for you.

Your appointment will be like any other consultation you would have in the office. It’s a discussion about a dental concern you’re having or a restorative or cosmetic procedure that you’re looking to have done. Dr. Sinclair will offer opinions on these services, answer any questions you may have, and recommend further dental care or services. If you’re looking for a second opinion on a treatment option, virtual dentistry can provide that as well.

During this visit, Dr. Sinclair may recommend an in-office appointment. A virtual visit can be a good follow up to your in-office appointment or procedure. You can discuss any problems or side effects you think were caused by the procedure, or just let the dentist know you’re happy and that nothing else needs to be done!
