Root Canal Treatment in Virginia Beach

Do you have sensitive teeth? Do you feel tooth pain when eating or drinking hot or cold foods and drinks? You may have a tooth infection. Infection can be removed with a root canal procedure. The root canal is the natural cavity at the center of the tooth. Nerves are located inside the root canal, surrounded by soft tissue called pulp. Bacteria and debris can enter into the root canal and cause infection and damage to the area. Many patients may think that root canal therapy is painful, but they actually experience pain caused by the infection. Root canal therapy is no more uncomfortable than a dental filling.

Root Canal Treatment in Virginia Beach, VA

Coastal Cosmetic & Implant Dentistry offers root canals in our Virginia Beach dentist office. Dr. Cappy Sinclair or Dr. Mark Reichley may recommend a root canal to restore health to a damaged or diseased tooth. Root canal therapy can be used to save a natural tooth from extraction. Root canals can effectively remove tooth decay without compromising the integrity of the jaw or bite. The procedure can often be completed in just a single visit to our dentist office.

Symptoms of Tooth Infection

Tooth infections become more apparent with these tell-tale signs:

  • Cavities
  • Toothaches
  • Tooth sensitivity
  • Pus around teeth and gums
  • Tooth pain

If you have noticed any of these signs, call Coastal Cosmetic & Implant Dentistry for root canal treatment.

Root Canal Treatment

With the use of local anesthetic, the infected tooth and the surrounding area will be numbed by Dr. Sinclair or Dr. Reichley. A small hole is made in the back side of the tooth to access the tooth chamber. The infected pulp is removed and the tooth is cleaned and filled with a composite material called gutta percha to stabilize the structure of the tooth.

Dental crowns can be placed following treatment to help support the structure of your tooth. Custom-fit dental crowns are color-matched to natural teeth, and fit around the tooth like a cap. Using CAD/CAM technology we can craft and place your dental crown in the same visit.
